Gerald L. Patton, Treasurer, was a 4-year starter on the offensive line. Gerald was a member of the NCCU Eagle Football Team from 1982-1986. A true asset to the Eagles organization, Gerald was named “2nd Team All CIA Offensive Lineman” in 1983. He was named “1st Team All CIA Offensive Lineman” in 1984 & 1985. And in 1986, he signed on with the Memphis Showboats of the United States National Football League. Gerald graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently a United States Probation Officer. Gerald's passion for NCCU Football is something that was instilled in him as a young freshman in the early 1980's. He saw the level of commitment and pride that the coaching staff, alumni and fellow teammates exhibited toward the football program. His biggest growth and maturity as a football player came under the tutelage of Robert "Stonewall" Jackson, who was affectionately called Coach Jack. Coach Jack was a former collegiate and NFL standout, who always challenged his ball players to excel beyond their potential. His coaching style was not only preparing his student athletes to becoming better football players, but to become better men. Coach Jack and the football program taught their athletes to be men of purpose, who would walk with a spirit of "Excellence Without Excuse".
